Project:
Octroi tax Management system
Octroi Tax is collected by every city on the item being entered into the city for consumption purposes. The system was developed in Visual FoxPro in networked environment to collect tax on line. It is collected from the truck drivers and varies item wise. The system study was done and coded and fully implemented. The various MIS reports and the collection behavior was done. It was a small data mining and forecast model based study. The various modules of the system predicted the loss of revenue and its behavior with respect to the society. The System worked for 4000 trucks per day movement
Responsibilities:
Environment:
Visual FoxPro and Windows NT
Project:
Telecom Billing and Accounting System
This project was to develop a billing, accounting and Management information system for the telephone department for the state of Punjab. I led the team, which built the complete system design along with coding and running. The state is divided into districts and districts into exchanges. The transactions include the calls generating from a particular exchange. A typical district has about 100 exchanges and a100 thousand subscribers. The daily calls are about 8000 and the billing cycle is 2 months. The system
Included
data collection, capturing, analysis, reconciliation, and then billing. There
were about 200 different reports to be generated for different levels of
management. The payment of bills after distribution was captured and the
accounts ledgers were maintained and audited The total system was designed in
four modules namely Data capturing, billing, information system and accounting.
The Capturing was done in FoxPro, billing in COBOL, information system in PASCAL
and again accounting in FoxPro. This project was run for 6 districts of Punjab
for 6 years before it was successfully implemented into the in house system
which is still running.
Environment:
FoxPro, COBOL,PASCAL ,Windows NT and DOS
Project: Election Commission Identity Card
In this project about 20 million identity cards for voters
were issued. The personal dat was collected and database was made in English and
the local language. Tools using transliteration were used and used with digital
photographs to produce identity cards, The data base used was SQL server and the
languages used were English hindi and Punjabi.
Responsibilities.
·
Writing
Transliteration package
·
Data capturing,
validation and printing
·
Issue of complete
identity card with photo
Environment:
FoxPro, PASCAL and DOS
Project: Group Insurance Scheme
This project involved computation and enrollment of
subscribers. GIS is applicable to the group of personals working together or
having something in common. The project involved system study, coding and final
calculation of premium as a group. This was coded in COBOL using random data
file concept.
Responsibilities.
·
System study and
design
·
Coding and
testing of programs
·
Running and
execution
Environment:
COBOL and DOS
Apart from the above I have headed more than 150 small
projects for Industry, city council, government organizations during my tenure
as president of Jaico Computers before I relocated my self to USA. I had also
been engaged in training in general on computer concepts and specialized
corporate training. I used to design courses for the various public and private
sector undertakings.

Doctorate Fellow
I did research on computer modeling of ground water movement lying between the rivers of Sutlej and Beas. The technique used was of finite element method to solve a partial differential equation with stochastic and probabilistic boundary conditions. Also the parameters of input and output were probabilistic. The language used was FORTRAN, coded and analyzed.
Training: I am trained in
Data warehousing using Microstrategy tools. I also have
Training of 8 weeks in CRM using SIEBEL tools. However I have never
Worked on projects using these two tools.
